Moscow-based installation and performance artist Andrey Kuzkin bases his practice on placing his body under extreme physical conditions. Whether spending hours walking in a circular path in a slowly solidifying pool of concrete in Walking Circles (2008) or spending an entire day drawing a single line on the walls of a gallery for Space-Time Continuum (2008), Kuzkin engages in a battle with the banality of life. His work doesn’t shy away from the pain that those same actions often inflict on their author, or the pointlessness of their purpose to the casual onlooker.
