Sasha Pirogova’s silent video works are an exploration through movement of the spaces inhabited by us daily. In 2013, she won the New Generation category of the Innovation Prize for her ten-minute video Biblimlen. In the work, the artist choreographed a dance sequence in the Russian State Library. Projecting the language of contemporary dance into a lens-based practice, Pirogova’s works reinterpret familiar, often overlooked spaces and imbue them with an alternative purpose.
