The Latvian photographer originally studied graphic printmaking at the Art Academy of Latvia in Riga and has since been experimenting with the medium of photography, working with documentary, found image and collage. People in the Dunes is his longest project to date and focuses on the suburbs of Riga, the areas of Bolderāja and Daugavgrīva. Once a weekend getaway destination, then later occupied by Soviet Naval forces, they have since been left in neglect.
