Calvert 22 Foundation is calling on emerging photographers from eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Russia, and Central Asia to enter this year’s New East Photo Prize.
The New East Photo Prize, now in its third iteration, champions artistic excellence in photography, recognising practitioners that offer representations of the social, cultural, and physical landscape of the New East and other perspectives on that region.
Despite its huge diversity and rich heritage, representations of eastern Europe and the post-Soviet and post-socialist world are often outdated, negating the cutting-edge creative output of these countries.
For the past four years, the New East Photo Prize has been broadening these perceptions by celebrating the very best contemporary photography from the region. Alongside the prizes, all finalists for the prize will enjoy international exposure through The Calvert Journal and other media partners.
The New East Photo Prize is a project of Calvert 22 Foundation, supported by its online award-winning magazine, The Calvert Journal. Those applying must submit their applications by midnight on Monday 20 July 2020. For more information, click here.
