Conceptual, fun, brightly coloured, honest, and considered, London-based Russian illustrator Tribambuka’s work will provide your Instagram feed with both joy and food for thought.
Tribambuka is a pseudonym for artist Anastasia Beltyukova, who abandoned a successful career in graphic design in 2017 to pursue her vocation as an illustrator, artist, and animator.
One of her particularly striking series reflects on the meaning of home, which Tribambuka approached from her own personal experience as a migrant. But the theme has also gained particular resonance as many people around the world are confined to their homes during the coronavirus pandemic.
Another exciting project features illustrations of pioneering women, like Russian poet Anna Akhmatova and American abolitionist Sojourner Truth, known for her 1951 speech “Ain’t I a Woman?”. Tribambuka created these works as a self-challenge, drawing one inspiring figure each day, for a month.
