Warsaw-based brand KOPI specialises in affordable jewellery that’s minimal and playful at the same time. Its founder Natalia Kopiszka studied landscape architecture at the Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology in Krakow, but decided to specialise in fashion design for her MA, moving to Warsaw to attend the International School of Costume and Fashion Design. The Polish designer first started producing jewellery under the name Kasnalka, switching later to KOPI, a catchy abbreviation of her surname.
Characterised by simple and irregular shapes and modern motifs (KOPI collaborated with Polish pop star Bovska on a collection dedicated entirely to cacti), Kopiszka’s aesthetic is a tribute to the visual language of Henri Matisse and the designer’s own memories of childhood. Kopiszka’s signature pieces are her “eye” stud earrings — a quirky update on an everyday staple. There are also earrings, brooches, necklaces, bracelets, rings and keyring featuring hands, faces and lips. For her AW 17/18 collection, Kopiszka has swapped small and delicate designs for retro statement pieces. Relive the 1980s with her door-knocker earrings and scarf buckles — all gold-plated, of course.
