Yevgenia Belorusets

Yevgenia Belorusets, whose photographic works form part of the group exhibition at the Ukrainian Pavilion, focuses on an “invisible” subject — the miners who live and work in the eastern Ukrainian war zone but refuse to participate in it, opting to stay put and carry on with their jobs. Shrouding their faces in clouds of smoke, Belorusets’s images retain the miners’ anonymity but bring their existence to the forefront.
