Nike has just dropped its first Russian collection

7 June 2018

Nike has just dropped its first collection dedicated to the Russian market, with a streetwear tribute to the country’s street football scene.

The new collection raks up a string of collaborations with top Russian designers, including Sever’s Vsevolod Cherepanov, Cyber69, ZULU WARRIOR and Moscow design house BELIEF.

Incorporating sweatshirts, football shirts, tracksuits and jackets, the collection centres around Russia’s iconic korobkas: the caged pitches tucked away in the courtyards of traditional Soviet housing blocks, the heart of any local street football scene.

Nike say it’s the first time that everyday silhouettes have been given their own individual Russian take.

“In this collection, we’re talking about the language of football, about Russian street culture,” says Dmitry Oskes, collection curator and co-creator of Russia’s FACES & LACES street festival. “The custom graphics and unique signature on every piece in this collection translates to each designer’s personal view [on the interaction between street culture and football.”

The new collection is set to hit the shops from 15 June.
