Discover Polish feminism and photography with Calvert 22 Foundation

A special event delving into modern Polish art is taking place in London at Calvert 22 Foundation.

Organised in partnership with UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies and Centrala Space, Birmingham, the one-off talk will examine the role of the past in the work of Poland’s contemporary artists.

There will also be a special focus on female artists to celebrate the centenary of suffrage for Polish women.

Artists Iwona Demko, Dorota Hadrian, Małgorzata Dawidek, and Alicja Rogalska will discuss the impact of socialism on Polish women artists, including the iconic Zofia Rydet and her Sociological Record.

The talk runs alongside the exhibitions Family Values: Polish Photography Now at Calvert 22 Foundation and 100 Years, So What? at Centrala Space, as well as the Impacts of Gender Discourse conference at UCL SSEES.

The event takes place on Wednesday 18 July, 6:30pm, and is open on a pay-what-you-like basis, but visitors are encouraged to book their place before hand to avoid disappointment.
