Ukrainian design studio NOOM is channelling the avant-garde spirit of Kazimir Malevich with a new collection of lamps and vases inspired by the Soviet art icon.
With its bold geometric shapes, the collection was created by artists Arkady Vartanov and Kateryna Sokolova to blend the functional and the decorative.
“When you live and work in the city where the genius of Suprematism, Kazimir Malevich, was born, studied art, and taught at the Art Academy, it’s only a matter of time before this presence starts to inspire your creation,” says the pair.
“The geometric structure of the vases is not only a décor, but also functional, with dividers and holders for the flowers. Even an empty vase will always look like a small art object in your house.”
The team will be launching the collection at the Maison & Objet fair in Paris between 7-11 September 2018.
