The high-adrenaline sport of buzkashi is finally hitting the big screen thanks to a local blockbuster from Kazakhstan.
Time of the Brave centres on the ancient Central Asian sport, which sees horse-mounted players fight to place a goat or calf carcass in a goal.
More than 1,100 people worked on the firm, which is directed by Kyrgyz filmmaker Ruslan Akun and will be released by Amanat Film.
It follows a young athlete, Maksat, who is fired from a championship-winning buzkasi team after refusing to ride an injured horse. But when he returns home, Maksat realises his own village is under threat and the only way to save it is by leading a local buzkasi team to victory.
The film’s creators say they hope to capture audiences across the world with universal themes such as family, friendship and facing down adversity.
