14 February 2019

Women of Kazakhstan is a virtual museum preserving the stories of powerful female icons past and present.

Founded and led by Dinara Asanova, the project uses a vibrant and varied mix of photographs, artwork, and archive material to document and promote women’s vital role in shaping Kazakh society.

It also features the inspiring — and often overlooked — work of prominent Kazakh women, from Second World War hero Manshuk Mametova to champion athlete Yuliya Galysheva.

Women of Kazakhstan operates on Facebook and Instagram in Kazakh and Russian, and in English on Twitter.
