Georgia’s thriving capital is on the radar again with the second edition of Tbilisi Art Fair (TAF) taking over the Modernist pavilions and gardens of Expo Georgia. The fair, which runs as part of Tbilisi Art Week, is accompanied by more than 30 exhibitions and performances taking place across the capital.

This year, TAF has divided up its programme into three main sections. Galleries and Editions will gather contributions from established art spaces from across the world, showcasing contemporary art from Lithuania, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Armenia alongside the likes of Austria’s Vin Vin gallery or France’s Kamel Mennour. The Hive will present new solo projects from emerging artists in Georgia and the New East, while TAF ON will provide talks, discussions, and group shows with a special take on feminism and gender equality. Highlights include the To Be a Woman exhibition, created by Azerbaijani video artists, and Medea: Icons vs Logos, a project by female artists exploring the theme of Medea in Georgian-European relations.

The latest from Ukrainian photography will also be on display at a Kharkiv School of Photography group show, with more international artists on display at Hotel Europa, a group show featuring 40 international artists aimed at rethinking Europe today. Elsewhere, the Erti Gallery will offer a new take on a Georgia’s supra tradition, with a 20-channel multimedia show.

Tbilisi Art Fair 2019 will be held from 17-19 May. For more information, click here.
