Montenegro’s Ministry of Economy is inviting proposals for a new logo and slogan for the country. The competition is open to the international public, and could see the winner receive an award of €10,000.
The Ministry hopes the new visual identity will boost global perceptions of the country while encouraging foreign investment and economic development. They advise entrants to keep in mind Montenegro’s national characteristics — like its cultural heritage, natural beauty, and growing tourism industry — and work to strengthen them.
“The visual identity of the national brand should unify the specificities of Montenegro and uniquely maintain them”, said the Ministry in a statement, “so that through a graphics solution and a synchronised and comprehensive message, Montenegro could position itself on the international market.”
The current national logo, designed by architect Vladimir Kovac in 2016, is a stylised update of the traditional Montenegrin coat of arms and its two-headed eagle, taken from the national flag.
If you think you can do better, keep your eyes on the Ministry of Economy of Montenegro website for more details as they’re made available. Applications are now open until 4 July 2019.
