Watch the natural and digital worlds collide in this fashion shoot set in Kyiv’s suburbs

Ukranian designer Julie Paskal once fought information overload by disconnecting from the digital world.

Now the former architect’s latest capsule is reclaiming a place for nature in the digitised world — reimagining her brand’s trademark laser-cutting and floral appliques in a new, computerised world.

The PASKAL Fall-Winter 2019 collection mixes artificial rainbow hues with cutouts and transparent panels, reflecting a world where nothing is truly private.

Shot in the streets of Kyiv, Paskal’s lookbook jumps from serene botanical gardens to the harsh concrete lines of the city’s architecture.

“We planned the shoot spontaneously. I searched for locations in my photo archive and while walking to work in the morning,” photographer Lesha Berezovskiy told The Calvert Journal.

“Then we placed the heroines of the story in organic environments that suited them,” he says. “With her surreal, blossoming nature, Sasha naturally mimicked the botanical garden, while Olya mirrored Kyiv itself: unusual, mystical, and thought-provoking.”
