Polish tattoo artist Dżo Lama blends delicate flowers and leaves with outlandish flights of fancy, combining her monochrome line work with images of frolicking cats, insects, and flashes of neon colour.

Lama, who originally graduated in Fine Arts, dreamt of working as a jeweller, then as a film maker, before finally turning her hand to tattoo artistry. After three years of working in different studios, she opened her own tattoo parlour in an abandoned Wrocław railway station.

“I started tattooing six years ago when one of my friends asked me if I could tattoo one of my drawings on them,” Lama told The Calvert Journal. “The moment I picked the tattoo gun into my hands, I knew that it was going to stay with me for many, many years.”

Lama’s work blends fantastic elements with her other great passion: nature. “My greatest inspiration is nature, especially forests,” she says. “Trekking in the mountains is the best antidote for the body and soul.”
