Listen to the ‘ghetto sci-fi’-styled drop from the duo tearing up Tbilisi’s hip-hop scene

Georgian rap group KayaKata have been steadily building their credentials as boundary breakers in Tbilisi’s underground scene.

The duo’s latest release, Sadaa, lives up to the pressure to keep conquering new artistic ground. Blending ambient ASMR skits with heavier rhythms and beats, the album forms just one chapter of an expanding creative universe.

Known as Car Book, the broader project will encompass literature, animations, short films, and comics, as well as tracks from Sadaa and elsewhere.

In fitting with this new universe, the album was conceived with an innate sense of fantasy and spiritualism.

“[Sadaa] has a ghetto sci-fi, psychonauts’ diary kind of vibe,” one half of KayaKata, Maxime Machaidze, told The Calvert Journal. He describes each of the tracks as “prayer loops” rather than songs. “All the texts on the album mainly focus on the circular movement of this world, how everything is spinning on a loop.”
