The Czech animated puppet-drama, Daughter, was shortlisted in the Oscars’ Best Animated Short Film category.

Directed by Daria Kashcheeva, a former pianist currently enrolled on the Animated Film course at Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts, the film explores a troubled relationship between a father and a daughter.

The film, already the recipient of the student Oscar Award, is entirely made by hand, using an innovative hand-held camera and no-digital techniques.

The winners will be announced on 9 February. Watch the trailer below.
