Georgian art space Kunsthalle Tbilisi is looking at the world on lockdown with a collection of videos reflecting on the natural world without humanity.
All Hands Bury the Dead alternates footage of a peaceful evening and the buzz of cicadas against a smouldering bonfire. Commissioned by Kunsthalle Tbilisi and made by Georgian artist Andro Eradze, the clip is a tribute to the all-encompassing peace of green spaces: a nature which is fully accessible even if you’re trapped in your apartment.
The exhibit’s second video meanwhile, New Acid, is a mind bending video work portraying zoo animals in a chatroom. Made by Egyptian, Basel-based artist Basim Magdy, the work includes seals commenting on bitcoins, zebras complaining about cynicism, and political goats who argue: “we are the only true existence. We are the cause.”
