A Polish artistic duo is creating a video call collage as part of a new virtual performance to reflect the multiple realities of the digital age.
Visual artists and performers Maria Magdalena Kozlowska and Maria Tobola, who perform together under the pseudonym Maria Małpecki, will livestream a performance of their variety show, There is no such thing as the internet.
At the intersection of video art and theatre, the show, which will take place in English, is a collage of video calls and performances that explore identity and different modes of communication in times of isolation.
The performance, curated by Tomek Pawłowski Jarmołajew, is included in the online programme of Pogo Bar. As part of Berlin’s KW Institute of Contemporary Art, this underground club regularly hosts performances by emerging artists, but has now moved all of its events online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The livestream will take place on Thursday 7 May at 8pm GMT. A link will be shared in advance on the museum’s website, and a video of the performance will be available to stream online until 31 May.
