A new film production company in Ukraine, Forefilms, has launched in Kyiv to support young filmmakers and help emerging directors find a new voice for Ukrainian cinema.
The founders of ForeFilms are producer and director Anna Sobolevska and Vladimir Yatsenko, whose film company Limelite has produced award-winning features lauded at international festivals including Cannes and Venice. Some of their most recent films include 2019’s Ukrainian debuts Atlantis, directed by Valentyn Vasyanovych, or Nariman Aliev’s Homeward. From now on, Limelite will focus on producing commercial content, while feature films will find their home at ForeFilms.
“Our ambitious goal is to make the film festival selectors realise that any film created by Forefilms deserves their attention. We want to tell stories which reflect Ukrainian identity while reaching the hearts of all audiences,” says co-founder Yatsenko.
ForeFilms also plans to work with young filmmakers to complete their first professional project.
