Instagram account @historyofuzbekistan is ready to transport you on a stunning photographic tour of Uzbekistan’s past.

The images allow you to travel through Tashkent markets at the end of the 19th century, or get a glimpse into early 20th century Torah classes in Samarkand.

Major events are mixed in with snapshots of everyday life, including boxing star Mohammad Ali’s visit to Uzbekistan in 1978.
