Join a free live screening for a documentary on the Belarus Free Theatre

15 September 2020

London’s Bertha Dochouse is hosting a free online screening of a documentary on the Belarus Free Theatre on Thursday 17 September.

Dangerous Acts starring the Unstable Elements of Belarus, directed by Madeleine Sackler, is a portrait of a dramatic year in the life of the Belarus Free Theatre, a state-blacklisted troupe of performers that defy the authoritative regime of President Aleksandr Lukashenko by staging underground and subversive shows.

Combining smuggled footage and interviews with the actors, the documentary is heavily political, and provides a background to the mass protests and violent clashes that have taken place in Belarus in past weeks.

The country’s current pro-democracy protests followed presidential elections on 9 August, which saw Lukashenko win a fourth term despite widespread evidence of vote rigging.

You can register for the screening here. The event is only available to audiences in the UK.
