Georgia’s Kutaisi Opera Symphony held an open-air concert at the Tskaltubo Spa Resort for those quarantining at the hotel.

The resort, a former Soviet spa located in the town of Tskaltubo, has been turned into a quarantine facility for Georgians and foreigners isolating after entering the country.

The concert was planned by Georgian influencer Kukuri Baramidze. Under the stage name Captain Domenic Mango, Baramidze uses his Facebook page as a platform to fundraise money for disadvantaged people in Georgia and discuss controversial topics such as LGBTQ rights and the role of the Orthodox Church in Georgia. Moved by the idea that those in quarantine “would not be able to see the fall of the autumn leaves”, he organised an online fundraiser, hitting his target for the event in just six hours.

The orchestra performed in the hotel’s garden, and the resort’s residents were able to enjoy the socially-distanced concert from their balconies.

You can watch a video of the concert here.
