The acclaimed Soviet film Slave of Love is now available to watch online, for free, via cinema platform KinoKlassika.
Set across Moscow and Odessa during the Russian Revolution in the autumn of 1918, the 1976 film tells the story of an apolitical self-obsessed actor who turns into a revolutionary symbol.
Directed by Oscar-winning director Nikita Mikhalkov, A Slave of Love was deemed “an astonishingly fine film” by The New York Times when it screened in the US in the 1970s. Despite romanticising the historical events it depicts, the comedy-drama has been praised for its meandering rhythm, sense of humour, and elegant set and costumes.
Watch the film until 27 October here.
