Kazakh brand @weareroxwear is taking traditional and contemporary Central Asian motifs into new realms.
Founded in 2018, the brand has just released its fourth collection, Futurasia. “With Futurasia we attempted to revive traditional nomadic items of clothing, hand-made and hand-crafted pieces, all re-examined through the prism of the cyberpunk genre,” says label founder, Roxana Adilbekova.
Born in Tajikistan, Adilbekova grew up in Kazakhstan before studying fashion in Paris and New York.
Previous highlights include a traditional carpet-inspired skateboard design, a Soviet concrete wall pendant, and the world’s most eclectic, yet superb photo shoot: a neon and socialist modernist architecture inspired outfit, placed in an interior full of tapestry rugs, bougie chandeliers, and farmer hayloft.
