Cleaners gain superpowers in this sci-fi video from Hungarian band Dope Calypso

Budapest band Dope Calypso have dropped a fantasy-themed video that follows a group of mall cleaners who discover a purple gem that gives them magical powers.

Beginning with the roar of a drone, the song “Bring All The Tears And Turn Them Into Freshwater” surprises us with its synth pop sound and soulful lyrics.

The song is part of Dope Calypso’s upcoming fifth studio LP, titled Tears to Freshwater, to be released later this year.

Produced by the Hungarian film collective Peter Riviera, the cinematography nods to both documentary filmmaking and apocalyptic zombie franchises.

“The video is a metaphor for those people, who live their lives with esoteric beliefs; who seek out magic in order to escape their lives,” filmmaker Daniel Balint told The Calvert Journal.
