Georgian fashion label Situationist has just dropped its 2021/22 Fall/Winter collection with monochrome, loose outfits, in vibrant colours.
Situationist’s latest collection, Forbidden Family, features airy long dresses, structured coats, and oversized outfits, combining chic minimalism with bright hues. Released on the online platform of the Paris Fashion Week, the launch video reveals the snowy, mountainous landscape of Georgia’s Svaneti mountain region, the homeland of the brand’s designer Irakli Rusadze, dotted with wooden homes. Here, models wearing bright red, green, camel, and black garments emerge from the all-white backdrop and start walking, as if summoned somewhere, to the beat of rhythmic, magnetic music, by Nika Machaidze. In line with the brand’s ethos, drawing from elements of Georgian culture, the video also features a model surrounded by traditional dancers, and closes with an enigmatic Georgian-looking household, with a US flag hanging from the wall.
Established in 2016, Tbilisi-based brand Situationist entered the fashion limelight in 2017 after model Bella Hadid wore their coat and boots during Paris Fashion Week. Their collection launch videos are notorious for featuring local landscapes, and, as in the film of their SS21 collection, non-staged portrayals of the models on the streets, to capture the public’s reactions.
