Ten Slovenian designers are releasing a new series of innovative furniture in a bid to boost wellbeing during self-isolation.
Titled Voyage, the collection takes inspiration from the novel A Journey Around My Room by French writer Xavier de Maistre. Penned in 1790, it sees the narrator use a travel journal to explore his own room while stuck in a gruelling 42-day confinement.
The team said they, too, wanted to change the idea of lockdown so that people could rediscover their own homes.
“We wanted to focus more on the bright side of the experience we went through: to embrace what we already have, to celebrate and find inspiration in the objects that decorate our homes, and therefore make it easier for our minds to relax, wonder, and travel,” say curators Anja Radović and Urška Krivograd.
Among the collection’s highlights are Brajak Vitberg’s Isola Console Table, which plays with light through coloured glass and neon hues, and Nina Mršnik and Nuša Jelenec’s Totem food serving system, which allows owners to assemble their own handmade marble, wood, and glass trays.
