9 September 2021

Cosmoscow Art Fair is launching for 2021 with a hybrid format, featuring physical and virtual booths from 77 galleries across Russia, South America, Europe, and Asia. The event’s online programme will kick-off from 10 September, followed by the main exhibit at Moscow’s Manege exhibition hall on 18 September.

Now in its 9th iteration, the event was founded to provide a platform for Russian and international collectors to network with gallery owners and artists.

The majority of virtual exhibits are reserved for Russian galleries, with 13 international galleries taking part online. One of the highlights is Yekaterinburg’s Ural Vision Gallery, where Vladimir Abikh’s nature photo collages-turned audiovisual experiences will be on display.

Other favourites include Russian artist Misha Buryj, represented by Moscow’s Ruarts Gallery, who makes totem-installations out of found materials from advertising and printing waste. The installations warn viewers of the growing weight of waste on the environment, as well as our overabundance of information in modern society.

From the international participants, Hernan Soriano’s installation of a cylinder-shaped, crumpled world map impresses will be featured by Buenos Aires’ Quimera Gallery, confronting viewers’ own warped perceptions of the world.
