World’s first online festival takes art to the masses

An arts festival hosted exclusively on television and online kicks off today with a daily schedule of both established and emerging video artists from around the world. Representing Russia at the ikono On Air Festival will be art collective AES+F and Alexander Ponomarev, a Moscow-based performance, installation, video artist and photographer.

Other well-known artists include Brian Eno, Marina Abramovic and Shepard Fairey. The festival can be watched on ikonoTV and ikono MENASA channels or online from all mobile devices. For those in Berlin, a number of cafes, bars and cultural institutions will be holding public screenings throughout the festival.

The event is being organised by ikona, a media platform that broadcasts the visual arts with the aim of taking art to as wide an audience as possible. The festival will run from 6 to 29 September. You can watch it online here.
