Soviet-era film posters go on show at London gallery

The 1920s was a time of great cinematic creativity in the Soviet Union with Dziga Vertov and Sergei Eisenstein making films that would inspire generations of filmmakers to come. This golden age of filmmaking was accompanied by a golden age of Soviet film posters, regarded as works of art in their own right. Now a selection of 30-odd posters has gone on display at the GRAD: Gallery for Russian Arts and Design in London, showcasing the radical graphic art of artists such as the brothers Georgii and Vladimir Stenberg, key figures in the early Russian Constructivist movement. Kino/Film: Soviet Posters of the Silent Screen runs until 29 March.
