Moscow’s Beat Film Festival of arts and music documentaries has kicked off with the Russian premiere of the British docudrama 20,000 Days on Earth (2014), a fictitious day in the life of musician Nick Cave.

The festival’s main programme focuses on contemporary British film with screenings of some of the best music documentaries released over the past year screened in three locations across the city, including an open air cinema in the Museon Arts Park.

Other highlights include an extended lecture programme and an audio-visual show of Manchester of the 80s, an anthology of music from the British city between the 1970s to 2000s. The Beat Film Festival will run until 8 June and is part of the UK-Russia Year of Culture.
