Warner Bros and RatPac Entertainment are developing a screenplay based on a book about Russian oligarchs Boris Berezovsky and Roman Abramovich. The screenplay, based on American author Ben Mezrich’s forthcoming book Once Upon a Time in Russia: The Rise of the Oligarchs — A True Story of Ambition, Wealth, Betrayal, and Murder, follows the lives of the billionaire oligarchs who amassed their fortune during the large-scale privatisation of state-owned assets in Russia in the 1990s.
American filmmaker Brett Ratner, who has a number of personal lies to Russian oligarchs, first came up with the idea for the book and pitched it to Mezrich.
A number of Mezrich’s books have been adapted into films, including his 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires which was adapted into the hit film The Social Network.
