The Mixtape 23: join Slava Lepsheev on a hypnotic journey back to 90s rave

This month’s mixtape comes from Kiev-based DJ and promoter Slava Lepsheev. His party CXEMA (pronounced Skhema) is the biggest and wildest independent rave in the post-revolution Ukrainian capital. The parties are usually held in unexpected locations all around the city, from disused 50s restaurants to skate parks to the banks of the Dnieper. The rough atmosphere and DIY spirit of the parties are reflected here: the mixtape is compiled from techno and trance made between 1992 and 1996, the era that Slava’s most interested in at the moment.
