The “One Dance Week” festival begins this weekend in Bulgaria’s second city, Plovdiv.
The eighth edition of the festival will bring a host of dance companies and choreographers to Plovdiv, including a large number of international participants from countries such as South Korea, France, the Czech Republic and the USA.
Although this year’s event does not have an explicit theme, the programme focuses on the revolt of contemporary dance against the status quo and accepted ways of thinking and living, encouraging the audience to question everything considered to be normal.
Among the performances will be Whistleblowers by Prague-based studio Farm in the Cave, which explores the corruption and true identity of large corporations.
Despite its name, “One Dance Week” will run for a fortnight from 17 October – 1 November. A full programme can be found online.
