Artists from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will join together to present a shared project at next year’s International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, the Estonian Centre of Architecture has announced.

The project, entitled Baltic Atlas, will be the first joint project to be presented by artists from the three countries at the Biennale.

The Estonian Centre of Architecture selected Baltic Atlas as the winner of their International Curator Competition for the Estonian exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale last week.

“National architecture has its place in the cultural identity of a country, but when it comes to projects that shape the society and landscape, the impact of cross-border projects is bigger”, the Estonian Centre of Architecture said in a statement.

The winning team was made up of Estonian architect Johan Tali, Jonas Žukauskas, Jurga Daubaraitė, Petras Išora and Ona Lozuraitytė from Lithuania and Niklāvs Paegle, Kārlis Bērziņš, Laila Zariņa and Dagnija Smilga from Latvia.
