The first Bucharest International Dance Film Festival is set to open next week, bringing a selection of dance-based films and workshops to the Romanian capital.

54 short films on dance and choreography will take part in the official competition, while the festival will also host special documentary screenings, including a selection of the most popular films from the Pool International Dance Film Festival in Berlin.

The festival will be preceded by a series of workshops on dance and filmmaking with Jevan Chowdhury, creative director of Moving Cities, a film project that seeks to capture dance and movement in cities around the world.

The winning film will win a prize of €1,000 (approx. US$1,100), while another will receive a special award from the expert jury.

The Bucharest International Dance Film Festival will take place at Union Cinema in Bucharest from 6 – 8 November. The preceding workshops will be held on 4 – 6 November. The full programme is available on the festival website.
