Polish Theatre Week opens in Chișinău this weekend

Polish Theatre Week opens in the Moldovan capital, Chișinău, this Sunday.

A collaboration by the Mihai Eminescu Moldovan National Theatre and the Aleksander Węgierka Drama Theatre in the Polish city of Białystok, the week will mark 250 years of public theatre in Poland. According to the organisers, the events of the week are designed to highlight the values of Polish theatre.

The week will feature six contemporary plays, two of which will be performed by the hosts, the Mihai Eminescu Moldovan National Theatre theatre, and four of which the visitors from the Aleksander Węgierka Drama Theatre will perform. Plays featured include The House on the Border by Sławomir Mrożek, which will open the festival, Shakespeare by Dana Łukasińska (3–4 November), Aguride by Wioletta Grzegorzewska (5–6 November), and Cherry Docs by David Gow (7–8 November).

Polish Theatre Week will take place at the Mihai Eminescu Moldovan National Theatre from 1 – 8 November and is supported by the Polish Embassy in Moldova and the Polish Ministry of Culture.
