Ukrainian MPs performed the documentary play Seven in parliament on Wednesday to mark the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Seven tells the stories of seven women’s right campaigners from around the world. The five MPs, among whom were both men and women, read out the play with a musical accompaniment together with Crimean-Tatar rights activist Tamyla Tasheva and actress Nataliya Sumska.
Their performance was introduced by Speaker Volodymyr Hroysman, who highlighted that the play would “show how the Ukrainian parliament condemns any sort of violence against women”, and was broadcast live on the parliament’s TV channel.
