Eisenstein exhibition to open this week at GRAD

15 February 2016

Unexpected Eisenstein, an exhibition revealing a different side to renowned Soviet director Sergei Eisenstein, opens this week at London’s Gallery for Russian Arts and Design (GRAD).

The exhibition is presented by GRAD and Kino Klassika Foundation in collaboration with the Russian State Archives of Literature and Art and the Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum.

Co-curated by film historian Ian Christie, co-editor of Eisenstein Rediscovered, and GRAD Director and Principal Curator Elena Sudakova, Unexpected Eisenstein aims to shed new light on the life of the filmmaker, and in particular to invite visitors to consider his relationship with England. The exhibition comprises nearly seventy sketches, designs and printed materials.

Unexpected Eisenstein will take place from 17 February — 30 April at GRAD in central London.
