Success for new east filmmakers at 2016 Berlinale

Two new east filmmakers were among the winners of the International Jury awards at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival.

Bosnian director Danis Tanović took home the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize for his satirical parable Death in Sarajevo (Smrt u Sarajevu), while the Silver Bear for Best Script was won by Polish screenwriter Tomasz Wasilewski for the drama United States of Love (Zjednoczone stany miłości).

The members of the 2016 International Jury were Meryl Streep (President), Lars Eidinger, Nick James, Brigitte Lacombe, Clive Owen, Alba Rohrwacher and Małgorzata Szumowska.
