Calvin Klein ad investigated by Russian police

14 March 2016

Police in the north Russian city of Arkhangelsk are investigating a Calvin Klein ad for possible violation of“gay propaganda” and paedophilia laws after receving a complaint.

The ad, for Calvin Klein’s new unisex fragrance CK2, is called “HOW2: Reconnect” and shows two young men unplugging their electronic devices and relaxing on a bed together.

Police say the ad will be analysed by experts to determine the legaliy of its content and a ruling will be arrived at within 2-3 weeks.

Russia’s “gay propaganda” law, which came into force in June 2013, made it an offence to promote “non-traditional sexual relationships” among minors.
