The Moscow Government is set to establish an award for the representation of the Russian capital in film.

Moscow Deputy Mayor Leonid Pechatnikov announced plans for the award last week at the Moscow Cultural Forum.

Initially a short-list of films featuring Moscow from the last five years will be drawn up and voting will then be open to residents of the capital through the “Active Citizen” project, an initiative that aims to allow Muscovites to take part in governing their city. It is expected that the award ceremony will take place within the framework of the Moscow International Film Festival.
