Heart of Moscow releases new space series

Heart of Moscow, a popular brand producing souvenirs from the Russian capital, has released a collection dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the first human space flight.

Launched today to coincide with International Cosmonautics Day, the collection features a series of metal pins, in addition to notebooks and passport holders illustrated with archive images from the popular science magazine Technology for the Youth (Tekhnika — Molodyozhi) from the 1950s, 60s and 70s.

The collection includes works by acclaimed science fiction illustrators such as Alexander Pobedinsky, Alexander Ovchinnikov, Alexander Sokolov, Nikolay Koltchitskiy and Konstantin Artseulov, as well as Robert Avotin, who was described as “the best sci-fi illustrator of all time” by author Arthur C. Clarke. Designed in retro-futuristic style, the space series aims to show how the future was seen by artists and visionaries of the past.

Pins from the collection can be purchased at a number of locations around Moscow, while merchandise with retro illustrations from the magazine can only be bought at Heart of Moscow’s online shop.
