Not So Popular, a collective of new artists and writers, presents PEAKS: Balkan Stories tonight in London’s Shoreditch.

A night of art, music and performance, Balkan Stories will showcase work by photographers, poets, musicians and artists from across the region as part of Not So Popular’s PEAKS regular programme of themed events.

Among the participants will be Belgrade-born composer, singer and academic Jovana Backović, who will present a talk exploring musical identity and oral tradition in the Balkans, as well as a performance together with singer and actress Jasmina Stosić. Later in the evening the Op Sa! Balkan Band will perform their own brand of Balkan music. Throughout the event there will be the opportunity to view photography and artwork at the Balkan Stories exhibition, including work by Serbian photographer Milica Nikolić and Julian Plaka from Albania.

PEAKS: Balkan Stories will take place tonight from 6.30pm at Joyeux Bordel (147 Curtain Road, EC2A 3QE). Admission to the event is free. A full programme for the evening can be found on the Not So Popular website.
