Explore childhood dreams of flying with this new photo book

1 June 2016

My Air Force by Czech photographer Vojtech Veskrna has received First Prize in the Self Publish Riga photobook dummy contest in Riga, Latvia.

My Air Force traces Veskrna’s childhood obsession with aviation, stories he heard from his grandfather who used to work as a plane mechanic and childhood dreams of flying in a claustrophobic block of flats. In the beginning the project was supposed to be a documentary but soon turned into something much more personal. “I captured the things I imagined when I was younger. The power of the airplane, the freedom, people around. And that was it. My Air Force is a constellation of things and people who keep me flying even if I’m on the ground”, he writes in the introduction.

The Self Publish Riga photobook dummy contest took place during Riga Photomonth.
