Tbilisi cultural complex unveiled

9 June 2016

Italian architecture studio Fuksas has released its first images of its Tbilisi cultural complex.

Set within the Georgian capital’s Rhike Park recreation area, the complex is made up of two connected tubular shapes that open onto the adjacent green space, one housing a musical theatre and the other an exhibition hall. The music theatre comprises a 566-seat auditorium, in addition to a cafeteria, storage areas and technical facilities.

The funnel-like shape of the building is designed to create “a periscope to the city”, with visitors able to enjoy views of the river and the historic town.
