Kiev-based fashion label Ksenia Schnaider won Best Womenswear at the Premium Young Designers Award Spring/Summer 2017 ceremony, held in Berlin yesterday.

The brand was founded in 2011 by Ukrainian fashion designer Ksenia Marchenko and Russian graphic designer Anton Schnaider. Inspired by workwear, the duo are known for working with new technologies, and mixing feminine silhouettes with masculine tailoring. For their most recent Fall/Winter season they deconstructed basic denim jeans, creating a garment that combines oversized shorts and skinny trousers.

The Young Designers Award was conceived in 2005 to promote and support creativity of new talented designers, and is awarded twice a year. The Menswear winner was Verena Schepperheyn from Berlin, and Nadine Eismann from Stuttgart took home the Accessories prize. This season saw the introduction of the Activewear category, won by Berlin-based brand Dresp.
