VDNKh, a vast Soviet-era exhibition space in the north of Moscow, is set to get its own observation wheel as tall as the London Eye.
According to an announcement by the Mayor’s office today, the wheel will stand at 135 metres high and will replace pavilion number seven.
“The wheel will be the centre piece of a new ‘Park of the Future’ area, replacing ageing and outdated attractions in that section of the park”, the Mayor’s office said in a statement, adding that a covered walk-way, waxwork museum and cinema will accompany the wheel.
After falling into disrepair after the collapse of the Soviet Union, VDNKh has enjoyed revival in recent years after increased investment from the city government.
